In case you missed it, the couple ended their six years relationship and announced the shocking news via instagram with a poem note below:
A source told E news:
"It had turned into more of a big brother-little sister kind of relationship. The romance wasn't what it used to be. That said, Wilmer is still very protective of her. He did a lot for her—not just in terms of being there for her when she had her health issues, but really helping build her brand and launch her product lines. You never saw him out in front though. He never tried to ride her fame."
Adding:
"He was very close to her family. I don't expect that will change. There was a lot of love there."
Apparently their deep connection just wasn't enough to make the romance stick. Another insider said that when Wilmer was asked about getting married to the 23-year-old singer, he replied:
"No, I don't think we're in that space."
Sad!
An additional source nailed in that same point:
"They love each other but aren't in love anymore. They are really great friends which they'll continue to be but the romance sort of died."
Well, we guess at the end of the day it's best not to waste any more time if you know it's not the right fit.
